Landforms
We finished our Islands by using our homemade clay to form "My" island.
Then we painted our islands. It was tricky to get the paint to look realistic. We used gold glitter for our desert areas.

Emma was very creative in showing the lava erupting from  her volcano.

Today we started our landform unit by creating our own islands. First we drew up a paper map and included at least 3 different landforms. Then we made homemade model magic for our 3d islands.
The kids really got into cooking the model clay in the kitchen.

Happy Birthday!

Today we celebrated a birthday with pizza and cupcakes, YUM!!!

Summer Gardening

Last week we weeded the garden and made our soil ready for planting.  This morning, we began digging holes and planting seeds.  We also painted soil markers to identify our crops. We are so excited to see what grows!

 Solar System Art
Last week we used chalk and pastels to create beautiful 3D solar systems.

We also reviewed antonyms, synonyms and homonyms with a solar system craftivity.

Paper Mache Planets

Today we began our Paper Mache Planets. The students had a great time getting wonderfully messy!  It was a challenge to get the paper pieces wet without the balloon falling, but we learned that if we had a little perseverance, we could get the job done!

This week we made homemade rockets using recycled items (soda bottles, tape, corks and card stock) and mixed vinegar and baking soda to launch them. The students really enjoyed trying to outrun the launch explosion.

Guided Drawing

We had a guided drawing lesson this afternoon.  The children were given step by step directions on how to draw an alien.  After they completed the basic outline, they were able to add their own flair.
